The Michigan PA 568 of 2008 permits drivers with certain moving violations to take a Basic Driver Improvement Course to avoid points being made accessible to insurance companies. The Secretary of State will notify drivers by letter that they are eligible to attend this class. Drivers have 60 days to successfully complete the course before their ticket information becomes available to insurance companies. However,the ticket information is available on record and may be used for other purposes.
Upon successful completion of the Basic Driver Improvement Course, ACME Safety Council will electronically forward the Secretary of State the required information for drivers who pass the course. The Michigan Secretary of State will not add any points from the ticket to a driving record and will not show the ticket information to insurance companies for passing attendees.
Course Price: The fee for BDIC 6/8 is $85. Pre-registration is required. Late arrivals are not admitted. Participants must bring their driver’s license, the letter from the state of Michigan Secretary of State, and a pen or a pencil.
